Less sewage, more flowers!
Next to the new roads you can find deepened, planted structures that collect and filter water from the road surface, allowing it to infiltrate back into the ground.
A bioswale helps improve water absorption and groundwater levels. It can also help prevent heat stress during hot summer months.
The vegetation makes a positive contribution to the air quality and the environment in general.

How does it work?
Water from the road enters the bioswale.
Gabions filled with quarry stone provide a large buffer capacity for the water.
A mix of topsoil and clay pellets, where plants can grow, purifies the water along with the underlying filter mat.
In case of too much rain, there is an overflow from the bioswale through a street gully.
